About
I am a PhD Candidate in International Studies at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA and am currently writing a dissertation on democracies in counterinsurgencies. I have published in numerous peer-reviewed journals on a variety of subjects. I am also an Adjunct Professor at ODU and have taught POLS101: Introduction to American Government and Politics and POLS338W: Politics of East Asia.
I am currently employed as a Social Scientist for the U.S. Army's Human Terrain System. I previously completed a nine-month tour in Afghanistan studying the population in Zabul Province and am currently engaged in research focused on Africa.
I spent eight years as a police officer with the Virginia Beach Police Department. Four of those years were in the patrol division and four in the detective bureau, in both the Missing Persons Unit and the Gun Trace Unit.
